about Jacobson

The agrarian society of Sweden formed a close connection between its people and a reverence for the land. Rick Jacobson comes from a family lineage that closely connects him to his family’s Swedish heritage. At an early age, Rick was exposed to the outdoors and love of the land by his grandparents. An appreciation for the environment lead Rick to an education in landscape architecture while adhering to his stewardship of the land. As a golf course architect for the past 36 years, Rick believes that the land gives birth to golf courses and that it is the task of the architect to bring out the best in a course, and in those who play it, by creating challenge and beauty that stands the test of time. A design philosophy that embraces the grand traditions of golf course architecture; that of combining imagination with experience to exploit the beauty of the native landscape; not to change it, but to enhance it for the enjoyment of all golfers.

our mission

JGCD approaches projects with the sensitivity of an environmental advocate. It is our mission to exploit the dynamic relationship between the native landscape and the game of golf.  We believe each project is a living, breathing, entity. As Such, we encourage the course to evolve into an aesthetically pleasing yet playable challenge. Our design philosophy is to connect the golfer with the ongoing objective of reconnecting people with the environment and those around them.
