The club’s mission was to preserve its standing as a premier facility in a competitive major metropolitan market. A vision would be established during the process of creating a comprehensive Master Plan and goals would be defined that could appreciably enhance the quality of the golf experience for members and guests.

approach employed
solutions
We used an extensive and all-inclusive cost estimating process and evaluated alternative solutions to meet budgetary requirements during our Master Plan implementation. The plan included renovation of existing greens with a disease resistant and drought tolerant turfgrass. Our purpose for this was to provide consistent, high quality, putting surfaces. We also expanded the existing tees while additional tees were installed in order to
accommodate golfers of varying skill levels. We then reconstructed the existing bunkers utilizing extraordinary creativity. Bunker locations were subsequently adjusted in response to the hyper-advancements in golf equipment technology. Surface and subsurface drainage improvements were included in order to enhance the infrastructure that supports a quality playing condition. Finally a tree management program improved agronomic growing conditions for turfgrass while preserving the “framing” of the original golf hole corridors.

Our Master Plan captured the essence of the courses mission to “...restore the Sunset Ridge Country Club’s standing as a premier golf facility”. A visiting USGA Green Section Representative stated after observing the course that he “...would echo the entire community by stating that the results of last year’s renovation work are truly exceptional. That’s truly exceptional!” This perspective was further reinforced when Sunset Ridge Country Club was voted “#1 Private Course Renovation in the USA in 2005” by Golf Inc. magazine.
